This is Rough Guys Coffee

When we first started planning the café in April 2022, we went through name after name: Cahoots, Concrete, Black Cap, Black Sheep, Amity, Burr, but none of them felt like us. Naming wasn't our strong suit.

Then one day during a meeting, we were casually reminiscing about our younger, rowdier days. In that moment, Sho threw out the phrase: "Rough Guys." And we were like, "Eh, Rough Guys Coffee?" It clicked instantly and that's all she wrote.

Rough Guys Coffee wasn't born from a boardroom business plan or a marketing strategy. It started with hustle, heart, stubbornness, and a simple belief: that coffee should build community, not just transactions.

With no investors or corporate backing, we built everything from the ground up. The name "Rough Guys" has nothing to do with being musculine. It reflects the real grit of people who have been through things, who carry stories, and who value authenticity over polish.

As we grew, we realised our community wasn't just coming in for caffeine. They were seeking grounding, nourishment, and something that fueled both body and mind. That realisation shaped our evolution from Rough Guys Coffee to Rough Guys Co. still deeply rooted in specialty coffee, but now also home to wholesome salad and protein bowls. The philosophy remained the same: nothing fake, everything made with intention.

Our journey hasn't been smooth. We face what every independent business in Singapore faces: rent scares, sudden relocations, uncertainties, and sleepless nights. But we adapt, we pivot, and we stay in the race. Because we believe the best things are built rough first.

Today, Rough Guys Co. is a work-in-progress story of resilience. It is for the ones who show up tired but keep moving, rebuilding, and figuring life out. For the ones who don't need perfection, because they understand that growth is often messy.
